Lisa Marie 3/18/26
“From the very first time I walked into his office, Michael showed compassion and understanding for the unique circumstances of my case, which involved my child and a serious medical condition. He immediately recognized how important my child’s safety and wellbeing were to me.

What stood out the most was that he truly listened. He treated our situation with respect, urgency, and care. Michael is also incredibly knowledgeable, and his experience and confidence were evident throughout the entire process. Because of this, I always felt supported and reassured that we were in the best hands.

I’m incredibly grateful for his help and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for an attorney who truly cares about the families he represents.

If I ever need legal help again, he will be the first person I would call.”

Why Victoria Families Trust Michael Ireland & Associates

The first call is about your case, not a sales pitch. We start by listening to what is happening in your family and what you want to protect. You will get a straight read on where you stand, even when that read is not what you hoped to hear.

We prepare Victoria divorces thoroughly, long before anything reaches a courtroom. Solid footing in the Victoria County courts comes from organized records, a clear strategy, and meticulous preparation, not from posturing. We do that work early so you are not caught flat-footed later.

You can reach us, and you will know where your case stands. Clients tell us the difference is responsiveness: calls returned, questions answered in plain English, and no wondering for weeks at a time what is happening with your divorce.

We are built for divorces that are not simple. Military pensions, business valuations, high-asset estates, and high-conflict custody all run through this firm. In the Crossroads that often means ranch land and mineral interests as well.

No promises about the outcome. A commitment to the preparation. Texas rules do not allow a lawyer to guarantee a result, and you should be wary of anyone who does. What we commit to is the preparation and advocacy that give your case its strongest footing.

What to Expect When You Call

Our consultation is built around three things you need before any decisions get made:

    • We listen first. Tell us what is going on. The short version is fine, and we will ask the questions that matter.
    • We explain what Texas law says. In plain English, with no lecture and no scare tactics.
    • We map your next step. You will leave knowing what comes next: filing, responding, gathering records, or taking time to think it through.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Most divorces for Victoria residents are filed in Victoria County. Texas generally asks that you or your spouse have been a Texas resident for six months. The same person also needs 90 days in Victoria County before filing here.[1] Separate rules cover military families and spouses who live out of state.[2] New petitions go to the Victoria County District Clerk at 115 N. Bridge Street, Room 330, and the case proceeds in one of the four district courts that serve Victoria County.

Texas sets a minimum. Unless a statutory exception applies, a court generally cannot finalize a divorce until at least 60 days after the petition is filed.[3] Those exceptions are narrow and involve family violence. Most cases take considerably longer than the minimum. An agreed divorce in Victoria County often wraps up in a few months. A contested case with disputes over children or property can run a year or more, depending on the court’s docket. We give you a realistic timeline for your situation at the consultation.

Either works. Many clients prefer to meet downtown at One O’Connor Plaza, especially for the first conversation, and the connected parking garage makes that easy. We also represent Victoria clients by video and phone when that is simpler. Court appearances are handled in Victoria County regardless of how we meet with you.
